Welcome and thank you for visiting. My name is Aaron Schallié and I've been keeping a sketching journal, creating art and chronicling my experiences from my home in Vancouver, Canada. I am an illustrator who primarily uses pen and ink, pencil, and most recently watercolour. I draw inspiration from my community and the natural environment, and focus on my subjects with great detail and biological accuracy. My hope is to inspire others to get outside, explore, discover and learn more about the natural environments they visit and live in.

“I want people to recognize how amazing the natural world is. Especially those of us fortunate enough to live so close to green and undeveloped areas of the urban environment. You’re usually steps away from some truly remarkable, yet unsung critters.”

“I try to inspire others to get outside in nature, and start to appreciate and care for the little piece of environment they’re a part of.”

“I also encourage anyone and everyone to pick up a pencil and sketch. Remember to bring one with you everywhere you go. It has been the most rewarding habit I’ve ever developed. You never know when you’ll be in the mood to draw something.. and I think you’d be surprised how often creativity actually strikes. Best be prepared.”
